CASAC Recipient of Technology Grant from Hartford Foundation for Public Giving
Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has awarded a $23,000 Strategic Technology Grant to the Capital Area Substance Abuse Council (CASAC). CASAC will put this grant towards computer hardware and systems, software and staff training. The grant was awarded through the Hartford Foundation's Nonprofit Support Program, which offers assessments, workshops and grants to help strengthen the organizational capacity of nonprofits.
"We are so appreciative of this grant from Hartford Foundation for Giving," said Mirelle Freedman, executive director of CASAC. "This generous gift will allow us to complete our three-year strategic technology improvement plan. Upgrades to our technology equipment help us better serve our 16 cities and towns. These improvements help us strive toward our mission to reduce alcohol, tobacco, other drug use and other risky behaviors among youth and, over time, among adults in the Service Area by addressing the factors in our communities that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse through community education, public awareness ad advocacy."
